The document is generated, not assembled by hand

Templates draw their answers from the matter’s own record — parties, dates, fields your firm defined. On a real instrument in our catalog, 13 of 14 merge fields fill automatically on a fresh install, each one badged with where its value came from. Conditionals, repeating sections, numbering, signature and notary blocks — the HotDocs vocabulary, without the desktop software or the second system.

Every template renders to PDF and to a real Word document from the same source, and the two renderers are held to agreement — measured, not assumed. Firms that redline in Word keep working in Word; the record keeps one truth.

The legal content itself is treated as something to verify, not just format: our starting templates carry statute citations that were checked against the code, and rules that apply only in verified jurisdictions refuse elsewhere rather than guessing. Deterministic where the law is known; silent never.

Where a passage genuinely needs prose, a template can hold a drafting slot. The AI drafts it grounded in the matter’s own record, its citations are re-checked in code at generation, anything ungrounded is visibly badged — and nothing lands in a document until a lawyer approves that passage by name. Every AI-touched word is logged as the AI’s in the matter’s permanent history.
